DESCRIPTION:37th Annual Student Juried Exhibition. Stetson students of any major\, graduate or undergraduate\, can submit up to 5 artworks of any medium for consideration by guest juror Carly Gibran. Awards and cash prizes available for participating artists! \n\n\n\nSubmissions accepted from May 1 to August 29 \n\n\n\n\n\nNote: submissions must be ready to hang. The Hand Art Center does not print\, mat\, nor frame student artwork. \n\n\n\nExhibition on view October 15 to November 21. Reception on October 15\, 6-8 pm\, Awards at 7:30 pm.

SUMMARY:Behind the Scenes Experience: the Vera Bluemner Kouba Collection
DESCRIPTION:In celebration of West Volusia Museum Month\, the public is invited to a unique behind-the-scenes experience. View rare items\, including family heirlooms\, that tell the story of Modernist artist Oscar Bluemner (1867-1938) and his family. And visit museum work spaces as staff catalog and digitize each item. \n\n\n\nPlease RSVP: \n\n\n\nName *Email Address *RSVP\n\n\n\n\n\nDonated to Stetson University in 1997 by Vera Bluemner Kouba\, the artist’s daughter\, the collection is composed of over 1\,000 works of art and an accompanying assortment of documents\, personal items\, and books\, as well as artwork by artists Bluemner admired. While Bluemner’s own artwork was catalogued in the late 90’s and early 2000s\, with an increasing amount available for online view via our museum database\, family items are only now being processed. Closed July 2-4. \n\n\n\nIn partnership with Visit West Volusia\, this art exhibit focuses on documenting adventures near and far for children of all ages. From discovering our local natural springs to admiring the downtown murals\, you can capture your own backyard just as Oscar Bluemner did in this collection. Learn more at visitwestvolusia.com. \n\n\n\n\nOscar Bluemner (1867-1938) visited many places across New Jersey. From lush forests to quiet towns\, he produced sketches and notes on location\, capturing the scenes before him.
