DESCRIPTION:Opening Reception on Thursday\, June 12\, 5-7 pm \n\n\n\nClosing Reception on Saturday\, July 5\, noon-4 pm \n\n\n\nOff The Beaten Path Florida Arts Tours are grass roots events created by a federation of practicing artists and community patrons with shared purpose and vision. The West Volusia Tour is a program of the Fall Festival of the Arts – DeLand. \n\n\n\nOrganized by John Wilton and co-sponsored by West Volusia Tourism\, this exhibit features West Volusia artists who participated in the 2025 edition of the tour. In the museum setting\, the works invite closer inspection and the opportunity to view artists side by side. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nExhibiting artists: Alison Burnett\, Bobbi Baugh\, Cal Ledy\, Carly Gibran\, Courtney Canova\, David Bryan\, David Fithian\, Douglas Alexander\, Jack Hill\, Jaivis Carolina Rojas\, Jorge Fernandini\, John Wilton\, Judi Bradford\, Karen Tweedie\, Kelly Canova\, Laura Bohn\, Mary Holtz\, Nancy Esther Livingston\, Sherrill Schoening\, Tess Blum\, Tom Burns and Hi Octane Jewelry. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nVisit artstours.org for information on upcoming tours

SUMMARY:Bum Painter or so-called Architect?: Oscar Bluemner’s Transition to Painting
DESCRIPTION:Bum Painter or so-called Architect?: Oscar Bluemner’s Transition to Painting\, an exhibition curated by Amarige Champion\, chronicles the artist’s challenging shift from architecture to painting. Central to the exhibition is the court dispute between Bluemner and his former architecture partner\, Michael Garvin\, which fueled the beginning of Bluemner’s disillusionment with the profession. Featuring works ranging from Bluemner’s early architectural sketches to later paintings\, the exhibition traces the key moments in Bluemner’s professional transformation. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nBy examining the Bluemner v. Garvin court case and its role in redirecting his career shift\, the exhibition considers how legal conflict became a catalyst for professional reinvention. Accompanied by an exhibition catalogue and drawing on archival materials\, Bum Painter or so-called Architect?\, explores the intersection of legal conflict and artistic ambition\, which ultimately set the artist on the path of becoming an important figure in American Modernism.   \n\n\n\nCurator: Amarige ChampionFaculty Mentor: Dr. Katya Kudryavtseva \n\n\n\nExhibit on view from October 14 to December 6. Catalogue debut and Curator’s Talk with Amarige Champion on October 16 at 5 pm. Reception on October 25\, from 6 to 8 pm. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSponsored in part by the State of Florida through the Division of Arts and Culture and the National Endowment for the Arts.

SUMMARY:Style\, Substance\, and Stetson Hats: The Legacy of the John B. Stetson Company
DESCRIPTION:Curated by Elizabeth Maycumber\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOpening reception on October 25\, from 6 to 8 pm. Curator tour with Elizabeth Maycumber on November 19 at 2 pm. \n\n\n\nWhen John B. Stetson crafted and marketed the now iconic Boss of the Plains cowboy hat in 1865\, he created an enduring legacy of style\, craftsmanship\, and American spirit. Curated by Elizabeth Maycumber in celebration of the 160th Anniversary of the Stetson Company\, this multi-sited exhibit traces the early history of this pioneering hat and its creator\, along with a magnificent variety of Stetson hat designs from over the years. Highlights range from men’s top hats and sombreros to ladies’ toppers and pill box hats\, and other surprises from Stetson University’s duPont-Ball Library Archives and Special Collections\, the John B. Stetson Company\, and the Museum of Art-Deland.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSponsored in part by the State of Florida through the Division of Arts and Culture and the National Endowment for the Arts\, with additional support from the duPont-Ball Library and a special collaboration with the John B. Stetson Company.

SUMMARY:Scrapped!: A Century of Stetson In Pages
DESCRIPTION:at Gallery duPont \n\n\n\n\n\nCharlotte Holley\, Curator \n\n\n\nDr. Katya Kudryavtseva\, Faculty Mentor \n\n\n\nReception: March 23 at 5 pm \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nScrapped! brings together four scrapbooks—crafted in 1916\, 1947\, 1971\, and 2025—by women who attended Stetson University across four generations. More than personal keepsakes\, these scrapbooks serve as rich archival records\, capturing daily life and their evolving roles over the past century. Through photographs\, clippings\, mementos\, and handwritten notes\, visitors will explore how women documented their identities\, relationships\, and activities within and beyond campus life. Together\, they invite us to reconsider what we preserve\, who does the preserving\, and why it matters. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSponsored in part by the LaValle Experiential Learning Fund and the State of Florida through the Division of Arts and Culture and the National Endowment for the Arts.
