Kenrick Demesvar is a historian, ethnologist, cultural heritage specialist, and researcher. He holds a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology with a major in Ethnology and Heritage from Laval University in Canada; a Master’s degree in History, Memory and Heritage, as well as a Bachelor of Education in Social Sciences both from the State University of Haiti where he is appointed as Adjunct Professor at the Higher Studies and Research in Social Sciences Institute (ISERSS), formerly known as the African Studies and Research Institute of Haiti (IERAH). He is the current Chairholder of the UNESCO Chair on History and Heritage of the State University of Haiti (UEH). He specializes in African-American History, Haitian and Caribbean history, culture, and heritage; He is interested in issues of memory, oral traditions, and the interpretation of natural and cultural heritage, lastly, in the representation of memory and slavery in Haitian museums.
This lecture is organized in collaboration with the Caribbean Student Association at Stetson University.
